👩‍🍳 Gorgeous plate, coming through! Though we should not need a special day to recognize their talent, EatDrinkLA took the opportunity to show some love for some of the best female chefs in Los Angeles. From Mozza’s Chef Nancy Silverton, to Chef Niki Nakayama, these culinary powerhouses of women have curations of food talent, allowing all of us to indulge in some delicious food throughout our backyards

👨‍💻 That’s Tom, America’s Best Friend: In 2004, MySpace was officially launched, and it quickly became one of the biggest social media sites of the next two decades. At its peak in 2008, the site had over 115 million unique users. MySpace laid the groundwork for the tech hub that our city would become, and its founders and employees remain active in the city’s evolving tech scene

🌴 We be yard cleanin': Spring cleaning always brings a form of yard cleaning. This year, take advantage of the ‘organic LEGOs,’ of gardening with landscaping boulders. Hugh Garvey, the editor-in-chief over at Sunset.com, needed boulders for his front yard in Los Angeles, and was shown a variety of options on upcoming yard-trends, courtesy of Landscape Designer David Godshall of Terremoto. In Western states like ours, boulders signify solidity, age, weight and create a powerful visual narrative. Boulders can be used as heat reservoirs for plants, placed in a dry stack wall, used as a threshold, stepping stone or natural sculpture, and even as a chaise lounge.

🥑 Spring. Sprung. Grub: Speaking of spring, our city’s restaurant scene is blooming with exciting new openings. From a Mexican restaurant by renowned chef Enrique Olvera to the first authentic Portuguese hangout in the city, there is something for everyone. The former A-Frame space in Culver City has been given a makeover and will soon be serving up pizza as the retro-cool Best Bet restaurant. Bar Monette, a jewel box of a hangout, is set to open in Santa Monica with Toronto chef Sean MacDonald at the helm. And, finally, Baroo, a much-missed restaurant, is making a comeback with Korean-inspired beverages and coursed dishes

We appreciate your understanding as we work with vendors to bring the best digital eye experience, and sweet new features for this great community.

PS: we are going to get eventful with this new gear, so, in the interim, we are not posting events like we typically do. However, we do have some great guides from our local favorites, below.

📸 Influencing the side-hustle: While it was once rare to make a living off YouTube, the creator economy is now valued at around $100 billion and includes an estimated two million professional content creators, with some achieving celebrity status like Addison Rae and the D’Amelio sisters. However, others like Allison make a dependable middle-class income from social media, though it's hard to define what that is. According to Pew Research Center, middle-class influencers make between $47,189 and $141,568, while a 2022 study found that only 12% of full-time influencers make over $50,000

A TikTok video posted by a Chuck E. Cheese employee named Stewart Coonrod shows us how to install a new song-and-dance show on an old animatronics system using a 3.5-inch floppy disk and not one, but two DVDs. This is the last update before the store gets a new look that will remove the animatronics altogether. The parent company still ships out updates on floppy and DVD to match the legacy system, which is a fascinating nod to the past.
