Raising Cane’s Takes on Hollywood Legacy at Former Iconic Arby’s Location on Sunset Boulevard
Raising Cane’s has proposed an ambitious redesign of the historic Arby’s site on Sunset Boulevard, known for its iconic cowboy hat sign.
Raising Cane’s proposes new location on Sunset
Situated at 5920 W. Sunset Boulevard, this Hollywood landmark is primed for transformation, as the fast-food chain aims to incorporate its signature style while respecting the neighborhood's cultural and architectural heritage.
Cultural signage like ‘One Love’ proposed throughout
The proposal outlines a 205 sq. ft. expansion to the existing 1,734 sq. ft. structure, creating a total area of 3,566 sq. ft., including a 1,627 sq. ft. covered outdoor dining space. The revamped space is designed exclusively for outdoor dining and drive-thru service, aligning with the Hollywood area's vibrant yet pedestrian-friendly ethos. Features include reconfigured parking and access points to streamline traffic flow, along with modernized drive-thru facilities.

RAISING CANE’S
Key Proposal Highlights
Extended Hours: Operation from 8:00am to 4:00am daily.
Enhanced Signage: Neon signs, murals, canopy letters, and two new pole signs replacing existing structures.
Community-Focused Design: Inspired by Hollywood’s urban and historic aesthetics, the exteriors aim to blend Cane’s branding with local character.

Iconic Cowboy Hat’s Future
The site's defining feature, the Arby’s cowboy hat neon sign, is under scrutiny for historical designation. Despite a 4-1 Cultural Heritage Commission vote against its historic status, the Los Angeles City Council will make the final call by February 2025. Should the hat be preserved, it might become a unique feature integrated into Raising Cane's design, balancing nostalgia with contemporary appeal.
