The Thomases were inspired by the park's history as a popular tourist destination in the early 1900s, and they wanted to create a new attraction that would appeal to families and visitors of all ages.

The train is powered by a 1949 Whitcomb diesel locomotive and features two passenger cars. The train travels around a one-mile track that winds through the park, passing by a variety of scenic attractions, including a pond, a waterfall, and a redwood forest.

The Irvine Park Railroad is a popular destination for families with young children. The train ride is approximately 15 minutes long, and it is a great way to see the park and learn about its history. The railroad also offers a variety of other activities, including pony rides, a petting zoo, and a playground.

• Petting Zoo: The petting zoo is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors can interact with a variety of animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens.

• Pony Rides: Pony rides are offered on weekends from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Pony rides are available for children ages 2 and up.

• Playground: The playground is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The playground features a variety of play equipment for children of all ages.

In addition to these regular activities, Irvine Park Railroad also offers a variety of special events in the month of October, including:

• Fall Harvest Festival: The Fall Harvest Festival is held on weekends from September 16 to October 31, 2023. The festival features a variety of activities, including pumpkin painting, face painting, and live music.

• Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off: The Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off is held on October 15, 2023. Participants can bring their pumpkins to be weighed and compete for prizes.

• Halloween Train: The Halloween Train is held on weekends from October 28 to October 31, 2023. The train ride takes visitors through a haunted forest.
