  • 🛹 Jumping into the X-Games: Hang-ten…ollie…half-pipe…180…we are clueless about this lingo, but we will have the opportunity to learn from the pros as they show off their skills at the X-Games, starting this Sunday in San Diego with a thrilling finale in Ventura. This year’s X-Games includes: 

    • More than 150 of the world’s best Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X athletes, including: Tony Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Sky Brown, Garrett Reynolds, and more!

  • 🚀 A Disneyland collection of 1,500 pieces: Van Eaton Galleries will showcase the largest privately owned collection of Disney Park memorabilia from locations all over the world. A total of 1,500 pieces will be on display from the ‘Joel Magee Disneyland Collection,’ and will include ride vehicles, props, signage, vintage souvenirs, and the single largest collection of Disneyland Attraction Posters. In addition to the free gallery showing, a private auction for items will begin on Disneyland’s sixty-eighth birthday, July 17, and run until the 19th. This event is free to the public.

  • 🍩 Barbie is Dunkin’ Downtown L.A.: Calling all Barbie Fans: from now until July 21st you can order a coffee in Barbie’s World. In celebration of the upcoming movie, Barbie, the folks at Dunkin’ have teamed up with Warner Bros., turning DTLA’s South Figueroa Street Dunkin location into a coffee shop. This collaboration-location includes various Instagram opportunities, a lot of pink, Barbie-themed menus, and probably a lot of glitter.

  • 🥪 Restaurants that do not have hidden fees: A recent Reddit conversation turned into a list of local restaurants that do not have those typical hidden fees that we often see at our local restaurants. Here is an ongoing list of those eateries that value transparencies

  • 🍗 Eighteen spots for some good lickin,’ crispy chicken: We get down and funky with our chicken. We have food trucks at car washes, stands, and everything in-between. And almost every style, too.

  • 🎬️ Rep. Grace Napolitano announces retirement: Representative Napolitano announced her retirement on Saturday. The Congresswoman, 86, has served our State of California for over twenty-five years in Congress

  • 🏥 Rancho Los Amigos is a beautiful hospital: voters with expertise in the realms of hospital architecture nominated over fifty hospitals as the most beautiful in our nation. And our very own Rancho Los Amigos is amongst the fifty hospitals that were nominated. Final voting takes place from now until July 27th, and the public is encouraged to vote. So for us, let’s say yes to Rancho Los Amigos. 

BUSINESS

  • 🥷 The worldwide coding program, Code Ninjas, opens shop in La Cañada: [📣 Hey, Parents!] Designed for children ages seven to fourteen, Code Ninja serves the local community by teaching kids to code by virtue of solving complex problems within video games. Gaming and coding are both wonderful educational tools, and this could be a great way for your youngins’ to meet friends this summer in a safe and fun environment. The coding abilities of your children might just be your retirement plan…

COMMUNITY

  • 💜 A Santa Monica workshop teaches comedy to battle cancer:  Cancer is cruel, but a group of comedians want to teach those in their battle with cancer to share their story with a comedic twist in a storytelling series, ‘Storyectomy.’ The group is based out of Santa Monica and will have their first showcase on August 4th to bring light, love, and positivity to those affected by cancer

  • 👓️ A local nonprofit with the right vision: A Pasadena nonprofit, ‘Vision To Learn,’ is providing eye care to over 250 local children from the Boys & Girls Club in Pasadena. We are led to believe that this is a vision we can all get down with.
