👽️ Alien nerds invade Pasadena: The Pasadena Convention Center was invaded by Alien truth-seekers from all across the globe earlier this month. These humans gathered together to explore their same interests for the unexplained mysteries that, well, let's admit it, we all love in that of extraterrestrial life. From Bigfoot-chasers to alien documentarians, the convention was a magnet for para-scientific personalities who were eager to explore the impact of extraterrestrial life on our world. Ben Kawaller, a local skeptic from his platform, The Kawaller Report, released a recap from this year’s AlienCon:

👛 Thursday’s Versace Fall-Winter 2023 Fashion Show: The much-anticipated Versace Fall-Winter 2023 Fashion Show took place in the heart of West Hollywood, and it was a star-studded affair. Despite a 100% rain forecast, the show was moved up to Thursday night, as opposed to Friday night last week, and featured a lineup of big names, including Cher, Anne Hathaway, Pamela Anderson, Miley Cyrus, and more. The show celebrated Versace's craftsmanship and understanding of true luxury, with drones capturing every angle of the event live on the @versace Instagram account. Missed the show? Don't worry, it's available for playback on the official website

☘️ Get lucky this Friday: An Irish reminder (whatever that means), of St. Patrick’s Day this Friday. We got lucky and found a website that showcases all the events you could ever want, and then more.

🐠 …and speaking of luck: Bow-chicka-wow-wow: California Grunion have started their late night spawning sessions. California Grunion are very small, shiny-silver fish that come ashore in mass to mate and lay eggs in sand. This phenomenon has started, and lasts until early June. The fine folks over at We Like LA have curated a schedule to where you can see…..all the action.

The answer: Catch a home run ball

Today’s question: The Academy Awards provides a handful of nominees with a leaving gift. This gift is known as, Everyone Wins. What is this type of gift?

  • A sedan, or SUV, whichever is preferred by nominee, as provided by the then-luxury car sponsor.

  • In modern day: Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+ lifetime access.

  • A bag of goodies, valued at over $100k

We will have the answer in tomorrow’s newsletter.

🎬️ Everything. Everywhere. All. At. Once. Every Win. The A24 film, which premiered at SXSW a year ago, took home seven Oscars including Best Picture. Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the film stars Michelle Yeoh and follows a laundromat owner who finds herself recruited into a multiverse-jumping plan to save the world. Despite its unusual storyline, the film became a box office smash and earned critical acclaim. This marks A24’s second win for Best Picture, following Moonlight’s win in 2017

🔥 Speaking of big wins…: Shakira has smashed fourteen Guinness World Records with her latest hit, Music Sessions Vol. 53, produced with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap. The fiery song takes a direct hit at Shakira's ex-boyfriend, Gerard Pique, and has already set a number of records. It has become the fastest Latin track to reach 100 million views on YouTube, with 63 million views in the first 24 hours, and also set the record for the most streamed Latin track on Spotify in 24 hours with over fourteen million plays. The talented duo even received their certificates from Official Adjudicator Michael Empric on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

👗 The History of the Governors Ball: The Governors Ball, which celebrates its 65th anniversary this year, wasn't always a tradition. Originally a post-Oscars dinner dance in 1958, it was created to give stars a place to go after the ceremony. The ball has only been canceled twice, in 1968 and 2021, but its venue has changed over the years. The first ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was attended by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and a ticket cost only $15

📸 A historic moment: Ruth E. Carter made history as the first Black woman to win two Oscars, thanks to her stunning costume designs for Black Panther and its sequel, Wakanda Forever. In her acceptance speech, she honored her late mother and thanked the Marvel team for reshaping how culture is represented. Carter has four Oscar nominations under her belt, including for Malcolm X and Amistad. She also recreated Tina Turner's iconic looks for the biopic What's Love Got to Do With It
