[🏆 Yelp! We got good eats, LA] Twenty-eight restaurants across Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Sacramento counties made the top list for Yelp's Tenth Annual Top 100 Places to Eat list. Leading the pack with the title of Best Place to Eat in America is Los Angeles' own Lee's Homestyle BROKEN MOUTH, an Asian Fusion restaurant located in Downtown Los Angeles, near the Toy District: 718 S. Los Angeles Street. Just the font branding of the menu looks yummy. [🏛Well that was nice of you, LA Board of Supervisors] Good news for those paying the very cost-effective, cheap rent seen all throughout Los Angeles. The LA County Board of Supervisors approved, and extended, tenant protections against those facing eviction due to COVID-19. Additionally, the Board of Supervisors approved a $45 million relief fund for small landlords that have been unable to collect rent from tenants due to COVID-19. But in all seriousness, living in LA is expensive, and challenging. A friendly reminder that 1] it is tax season and many within certain tax brackets will likely see a return with new state and federal modifications and 2] another reminder that USPS is holding a job blitz at numerous LA locations today, starting at 10:00am: great way to get in-shape, and get a tan! We are all doing life together, LA.[💾 Tech. Te-tech. Te-tech. Tech. Tech it out!] Tech Week, an event showcasing Los Angeles as a growing technology hub, is coming back to LA this summer from June 5-11th. The event will feature inspiring panels, workshops, and pitch sessions held in various locations across our Community. Local investors such as M13, Fika Ventures, and Clocktower Technology Ventures and Science have already signed on to participate in the event. The event will be a chance for attendees to network with thousands of founders, investors, and builders.

[🎧 The Best of 2022: Retro Edition] Back in December, and prior to the launch of CuratedLA, KCRW curated numerous Best of 2022 jams and lists. And we wanted to share them you, because we kind of like them. Does this give us street credibility when we are away from our computers? What does that even mean? Going to stick to keyboarding captions and copy....

Eagles: NFC Championship] Come and watch the Philadelphia Eagles play against the San Francisco 49ers in this new and modern sports bar, Woodley Lakes Best Ball. This particular bar is located on the Woodley Lakes golf course in San Fernando Valley. It is indeed open up to the public and folks, it looks sweet. You can also order out from the bar if you are playing on the golf course.

[👯‍♀️ 8:00pm: Sunday is the last day! | Pantages Theatre | $35 - $149 | Mean Girls] 'You can't cross Queen Bee without getting stung' is the theme of this Broadway play. Mean Girls is the hilarious hit musical from an award-winning creative team, including 30-Rock star Tina Fey and director Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon). Mean Girls will have showings at the Pantages Theatre until Sunday, January 29th.

Yesterday, we asked: 'Most of us probably see the Hollywood sign on a daily basis. But if we were to see the sign between the years of 1923 - 1948, what would it say?' The answer, seen in the retro picture below: 'HOLLYWOODLAND'

Here is a timeline on how we got from Hollywoodland to our now Hollywood.

DYK? This year, 2023, marks the 100th anniversary of the Hollywood Sign? Further, our modern sign is the third sign to be erected at the site. Our sign was built in 1978 to ensure safety and engineering standards.

Today's question: Los Angeles is known for its contributions to arts, entertainment, and Hollywood, as well as being home to CuratedLA. It is also known for its scientific discoveries. One of these discoveries is the modern way to accurately measure a specific speed, by standardizing the equation for measurement. Can you name which speed it is?

  • The speed of sound

  • The speed of taste

  • The speed of light

  • The speed of touch

We will have the answer in tomorrow's newsletter

[🚀Rockin' the Plaza] Aubrey Plaza hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time last week. And we do not think this is beginner's luck: Plaza's episode drew in 4.8 million views and received a demo rating of 0.98 amongst a demographic age of 18-49. This marks the highest demo rating for Saturday Night Live's 48th Season. The episode is currently the number one episode across Peacock and NBC digitals. This week, Michael B. Jordan hosts with musical guest Lil Baby. (I'm going to host one day with Big Baby)

CuratedLA: Aubrey's story was the only Hollywood article worth of interest. Everything else was pretty morbid, and as mentioned, we do not highlight any negativity or morbidity.
