[🧑‍⚖️ Let’s talk policy with our friends at the Y-M-C-A] All rose for high school students at Burbank’s City Hall last week. The young group presented Bills, ones in which they drafted throughout their studies within the YMCA’s Young Government program, presenting these Bills to legislators, family and friends, in preparation for an upcoming three-day trip to Sacramento. The future policy leaders also discussed numerous topics, including an amendment to Section 66030, which would provide more cost-effective textbook purchasing options to those that qualify under FAFSA measures. Not bad, eh? I’m still paying off my Biology books that I never opened

[  La bonne nourriture fait la belle figure] Good food makes a beautiful figure,’ thank you, Google Translator. A new French restaurant, Juliet, will open its French Doors tomorrow in Culver City. Designed by AD 100 designer Jeremiah Brent, this quaint 120-seat ode to Parisian dining is set to impress. Breakfast indulgers can treat themselves to crepes suzette, and then come back at lunch for tuna carpaccio. After an afternoon French snooze, look sharp and kickback over French seafood, black cod, grilled lamb chops, or other menu items that will make your stomach grin. Juliet also has fifty French wine options, because as they say in France, Quand le vin est tiré, il faut le boire.

[ 🤖 Here is your 7-Eleven Slurpee!] The West Hollywood delivery robots give me a nightmare. But I also think that they are cute. From a distance. Anyway, starting this week: 7-Eleven is rolling out robots in WeHo that want to deliver food to friendly humans. The robots themselves are from the company Serve Robotics, a brand that 7-Eleven teamed up with in late 2021, in an effort to shower West Hollywood with 7-Eleven Slurpees. Expect more robot friends in our community if West Hollywood’s 7-Eleven pilot program goes well. That is, if the robots can keep their charge. Ohhhhh….

[🚇️ Art renderings for the Arts District] Urbanize, a CuratedLA favorite, has an interesting article on the what the future of Los Angeles could look like from a modern metro station point-of-view. The article contains renderings of a new, and possible, Arts District Metro Station, that would allow both the B and D lines to run underneath our new Sixth Street Bridge. This rendering would also allow for additional stops within the Arts District

[ 🔭 Reminder | Green Comet] This week will be the best time for the Los Angeles naked eye to see that little green comet. Assuming we have clear skies, the comet should be noticed when the sun goes down. We should all be looking for green dust and a sparkling tail, known as a coma.

On Friday, we asked: 'TMZ, the best source for anything and everything celebrity and entertainment, wants to be like CuratedLA. And we are ok with that positive vibe. What does TMZ stand for?

The answer: thirty-mile zone.

The studio zone, also known as the thirty-mile zone (TMZ), is an area defined by a 30-mile radius of Hollywood used by the American entertainment industry to determine employee benefits for film work done within it. Its center has traditionally been regarded as the southeast corner of Beverly Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. The boundaries of the 30-mile radius includes almost all of the southern half of Los Angeles County, as well as parts of eastern Ventura County, and northwestern Orange County.

Today’s question:

In 1912, Glenn Martin founded his namesake company in Los Angeles. There, he had built his first plane in a rented church and was encouraged to use an innovative design by what famous aviator?

1] Darren Delta | 2] Orville Wright | 3] Jeffrey Towers | 4] Vence Logardo

We will have the answer in tomorrow's newsletter
