• Chimechi Oparanozie, a former Santa Monica College student-athlete and 2018 Athlete of the Year, has made the leap from football fields to red carpets. SANTA CLARITA 🌬️ Wind Advisory Issued, Strong Gusts Expected:

• The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Santa Clarita Valley from 3:00pm today until 10:00am Saturday. ROSE BOWL 🌹 Countdown to Pasadena’s Iconic New Year’s Celebrations:

• With Christmas behind, Pasadena is gearing up for its signature events: the 136th Rose Parade and 111th Rose Bowl Game. Streets are bustling, and float decorators are working tirelessly to bring grand designs to life. The Rose Parade is just days away, and volunteers, performers, and crews are in full swing. Key events leading up to the festivities include Bandfest, Equestfest, and public float viewings starting tomorrow, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the parade's preparation. BEVERLY HILLS 🚨 Golden Globe Awards Traffic Advisory for January 5th:

• The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 5th and will cause significant street closures in Beverly Hills, particularly on Wilshire and North Santa Monica Boulevards. Starting Sunday, curb lane closures will be in effect, and full sidewalk and street closures will begin January 3rd lasting through the 6th. Expect lane reductions and full closures on January 5th for the event. Residential areas surrounding the Beverly Hilton will see no-parking signs, and parking exemptions are available for residents. LA28 🏅 Los Angeles Gears Up for a Car-Free 2028 Olympics:

• As the 2028 Summer Olympics approach, Los Angeles is implementing an ambitious plan to host a car-free Games. The city aims to alleviate traffic congestion by enhancing its public transportation system, including the expansion of Metro rail lines and the addition of three thousand buses borrowed from other cities. This initiative seeks to provide efficient transit options for athletes, spectators, and residents, promoting a sustainable and accessible event. However, challenges remain in shifting the city's car-centric culture and ensuring the timely completion of infrastructure projects.

MAR VISTA 🏡 New Apartments Proposed for Mar Vista:

• A new six-story residential building is set to replace a duplex at 12761 West Caswell Avenue in Mar Vista, offering twenty modern apartments. The development, designed by Mika Design Group, will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, along with a rooftop amenity deck and parking for twenty vehicles. The project includes density bonus incentives, allowing for a larger building in exchange for setting aside two units as affordable housing. Pending review by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, construction details and timeline are yet to be confirmed.

EXPO/BUNDY STATION 🚇️ New Multifamily Development Moves Forward:

• The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has upheld the approval of a multifamily residential project near the Expo/Bundy Station, rejecting an appeal from a neighboring homeowner. The development, by Category Company, will replace four single-family homes on Exposition Boulevard with a seven-story building offering 45 apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, and featuring a subterranean garage with 28 parking stalls. The project includes affordable housing units through the Transit Oriented Communities program and will have an exterior of white plaster, metal, and tile. This development is part of the ongoing efforts to revitalize the Exposition Corridor, which includes several other new apartment buildings along the E Line.

• Lucky Strike Entertainment has opened its newest location in Ladera Ranch, marking the nineteenth venue in the brand’s nationwide expansion. Located in Orange County, California, the venue offers 42 high-tech bowling lanes, an arcade with sixty games, a chef-driven menu, and an upscale bar. The space is designed for social gatherings, featuring elevated dining options like Firecracker Shrimp Bao Buns and Birria Tacos. This launch follows the opening of Lucky Strike Beverly Hills and highlights the brand's continued growth, setting the stage for more immersive entertainment experiences across the U.S.

INDUSTRY 🎞️ The Evolving Movie Industry - What’s Next:

• The movie industry is grappling with shifting audience habits and fewer original films hitting the big screen. HAPPY GILMORE 2 ⛳️ A Sequel Packed with Big Names + Big Laughs:

• Netflix dropped the trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 this Christmas, signaling the return of Adam Sandler in the iconic role. • The speculation around Christopher Nolan's next film has been confirmed—he's set to adapt Homer’s The Odyssey into a global action epic. Universal announced that Nolan’s version, shot in groundbreaking IMAX film technology, will bring the ancient tale of Odysseus’ journey home to life on the big screen for the first time. With a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and others, the film will hit theaters on July 17th, 2026. The Chargers, however, are fighting to secure a playoff spot, and a victory or tie will guarantee their place. Experts are predicting a Chargers win, with their potent defense and Justin Herbert leading the charge against New England's struggling offense. Expect the Chargers to dominate and clinch their playoff berth this weekend.

RAMS 🐏 Rams Playoff Push Faces Critical Test Against Arizona:

• With the Rams on a four-game winning streak, this weekend’s matchup against Arizona is crucial for Los Angeles’ playoff aspirations. A win would almost secure their spot, pushing their playoff odds to 99%, while a loss could drop them to just 58%. Arizona, out of the playoff race, will be looking to spoil the Rams' momentum. Despite recent struggles, the Cardinals' offense led by Kyler Murray could still pose a challenge. The game kicks off Saturday, December 28 at 8:00 PM EST at SoFi Stadium, broadcasted on NFL Network.
