BLACK RESTAURANT WEEK ❤️ NOW - SUNDAY: Today’s Local Eats section is devoted to two Black-owned businesses, a coffee shop in Beverly Hills, and a catering + market eatery in Burbank.

Cafe Ruisseau ☕️ Cafe Ruisseau is Los Angeles’ oldest Black-owned specialty coffee shop. The cafe is owned by Edward Ackah-Miezah who started working in America’s Competitive Coffee Grinder of Seattle at the age of fifteen. After high school, Edward moved to Los Angeles to become both an actor and model, finding himself in various coffee gigs to help pay for LA living. In 2005, Edward would shift focus away from Hollywood acting with the birth of his daughter. It was that year, in 2005, that Cafe Ruisseau rolled out shop as a food cart, right outside of FOX Studios. In short-time, Edward’s hustle, talent, and detail to serving the best coffee would soon land him catering at the premiere party for Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Today, Cafe Ruisseau has three locations: Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Playa Vista with a Glendale location forthcoming. Burbank: 

Camille’s Creations 🪢 This establishment is led by a mother-daughter duo that craft every dish with a twist: the blend of their vibrant Mediterranean and Italian heritages. The eatery has been catering to Hollywood sets since 2007, but that doesn’t mean we must be Hollywood-status to enjoy the yum. Camille’s offers a Village Market and is a perfect option for to-go single servings. A POLICE ESCORT 🚛 FOR A GARBAGE TRUCK? The below picture was posted to Reddit’s r/LosAngeles this week with many asking the question, what’s going on? And why? 

The garbage truck in the picture is surrounded by unmarked law enforcement/government vehicles. The original poster indicated that there were no lights or sirens, just blinkers, escorting the garbage truck in a fast line on Glendale Highway.
