♻️ LA changes rules for plastics + recycling: what we need to know: The city has recently updated its rules for plastics + recycling to align with the state’s new law that aims to reduce single-use plastic pollution and increase recycling rates. Here’s what we need to know:
1️⃣ Plastic food containers, such as microwave trays, frozen food pouches, and clam-shell containers, are now accepted into blue bins #1 and #2. Just empty and rinse before tossing them in.
🚫 The city no longer accepts plastic bags, styrofoam, or other plastics that are not food containers in blue bins. Disposals of styrofoams are banned in all blue bins throughout, and should be disposed in black bins.
💯 The city heavily encourages the reduce of single-use plastics by encouraging us to switch to reusable items, such as water bottles, cups, straws, utensils, and reusable bags.
☑️ By 2032, all single-use plastics in California must be recyclable or compostable.
🟩 We can now put food scraps, including food-soiled paper, in the green bin along with yard waste.
The city reminds us that following these rules will allow us to achieve LA’s Green New Deal goal, reaching zero waste by 2050
eats.

speaking of curators…
Meet Wil Chockley.
Wil is curating his vibe within our local LA tech sector, serving as a Venture Capitalist Partner with 75 & Sunny, all while rebranding Dot.LA, Los Angeles’ biggest tech media entity/community as Dot.LA’s CEO.
See how both Wil, Spencer Rascoff (co-founder, Zillow + Hotwire), and other known-LA techies are putting our tech scene on a bigger map, all of this while humanizing Wil’s story, and learning of what Wil believes was his hardest subject matter while at Dartmouth: dinosaurs.
